Smitten about a Kitten

Three months ago I bought my first home with my girlfriend, Caroline. But since moving in something has been missing from our house. A cat! We both love cats and always said once we have bought our own house and moved away from those rented “No Pet” homes, we would get one. Question is, though, how do I go about getting one?
