East Midlands Regional Road Race Championship - 11:00AM 01/06/2008
location - Barrow Upon Soar area - LE12
The East Midlands Cycling Championship will cover 81 miles - 9 laps of a 9 mile circuit. It will leave Barrow at 11am, heading for the Six Hills junction then through Burton on the Wolds and Walton on the Wolds. There will be approx 60 riders from all over the East Midlands Region and the winners will be presented with Gold/Silver/Bronze medals.

Relay is a 24 hour inspirational community event designed to celebrate survival , pay tribute to those people touched by cancer and raise money for the vital work of Cancer Research UK. Teams raise money for Cancer Research UK before the event .On the day they take turns walking or running laps trying to keep at least one member on the track at all times for the 24 hours of the Relay. Teams take part in fancy dress while all around them there is a party atmosphere with live music, plus lots of activities.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is challenging 100 people to abseil 100ft to raise at least £100 each for the local Marie Curie nursing service. The Diamond Jubilee Drop is an abseil down the Rushcliffe Civic Centre building next to Trent Bridge on Sunday 29th June. It is £10 to register and participants are asked to raise at least one hundred pounds in sponsorship to represent £1 per foot abseiled. Marie Curie Cancer Care provides expert home nursing care and emotional support completely free of charge to families affected by cancer. This makes it possible for people who are terminally ill to live to the very last moment at home, rather than go into hospital.
