1940s Weekend - 10:00AM 26/07/2008
location - Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, Stoke Heath, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B60 4JR
Sat 26 & Sun 27 July 10.30am – 5.00pm Normal Admission Prices Members Free Visit Avoncroft this weekend to be transported back to a 1940s village in rural Worcestershire. See how people lived on the Home Front, experience life in a field hospital and in an army barracks. Watch the soldiers train for battle and see them in action on the battlefield. On Sunday there will be a 1940s Songs of Praise at 2.30pm in Bringsty Mission Church where visitors are encouraged to join in the songs and hymns of the time. Pre-booked tickets are available for this popular weekend.

Come along on any day over the summer holidays and have a go at our activity trail. There will be questions, things to do and find, with points for each correct answer.Total your points up back at the centre to find out which Ent you are.


Britain's Paralympic games Campaign - 12:00AM 26/07/2008
location - The NIA, Birmingham
The parade will start at the Jurys Inn Hotel on Broad Street at 6pm. Arrive in Centenary Square at 6.15pm. An opportunity to wave the team off as they head for Beijing


Open Mic - 10:30AM 26/07/2008
location - Sutton Coldfield Library
Opportunity to perform in a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. Be inspired by your fellow performers. PA (mic etc) provided, bring your own guitar. Free Admission in Meeting Room 1, Sutton Coldfield Library The sessions run between 11.00am and midday. To book yourself a spot arrive at the library after 10.30hr and put your name down. Going Further with Tim reeves Workshop2 - 10:00AM 26/07/2008
location - Central Library, Birmingham
The emphasis on these workshops in the Shakespeare Memorial Room will be on providing a safe, fun and creative environment for developing and sharing creative written work. The workshops will comprise individual and group writing exercises (mainly the former) around specific writing techniques using examples by way of demonstration. Participants will be given opportunities to read work to the group and receive constructive feedback. At the end of the second day or shortly afterwards, participants will receive a brief written report on their writing strengths and possible areas for development.
