Faith is just as famous for her singing career as being the widow of the gangster rapper Notorious B.I.G, who was gunned down in 1997 following a gang feud.
She started singing professionally in Los Angeles at 19, where she worked with Mary J Blige and Usher before being spotted by Sean “Puffy” Coombs.

She got lucky straight away and Puff Daddy signed her to his label. In 1995 she released her first album Faith, which went platinum in the US. The same year she fell for bad boy Biggie, and they got hitched after only nine days dating!
By that time the rap war between Biggie and rival Tupac Shakur had taken a nasty turn, as Shakur alleged that he had slept with Faith.

Shakur was gunned down some months later in Las Vegas, but no one has been formally charged, although many suspected Biggie’s gang and weren’t too surprised when Biggie was gunned down himself some months later.

Faith was devastated when she heard the news of her husband’s death and went on to record the smash hit tribute song I’ll Be Missing You with Puff Daddy, winning them both a Grammy. She has released four albums since then, though none of them has spawned a hit bigger than I’ll Be Missing You.
