There was disappointment at the US box office for George Clooney this weekend.
His latest movie, the sports comedy Leatherheads debuted in second place with estimated ticket sales of $13.5 million for the first three days of release. It cost $58 million to make.
Vegas-set gambling drama 21 logged a second weekend at number one with three-day sales of $15.1 million. 21 has earned $46.5 million in its two weeks at cinemas, costing just $35 million to make.
One studio official’s been quoted as saying: "We're all disappointed."
Leatherheads has also been quite poorly received by the critics.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, a web site that aggregates reviews, only 36 percent of top critics liked the film.
