Canadian crooner Michael Bublé grew up listening to his granddad’s jazz records, and admits he owes a lot to this first introduction into the world of music.

His grandfather encouraged him to enter a talent contest when he was a teenager, but he was disqualified for being too young. This didn’t put him off though, and he bagan singing with local jazz bands.

Still in his teens, the ambitious Bublé won the Canadian Youth Talent Search, released several independent albums and performed in a musical review titled Swing.

He then hooked up with Grammy-winning producer David Foster and released a self-titled album in 2003 made up of a collection of classic songs.

Bublé has since become a Hollywood darling, and many of his songs have been snapped up for soudtracks. He’s even starred in a clutch of movies.

He played a karaoke singer in Duets opposite Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis. He also appeared in the 2001 comedy Totally Blonde, and The Snow Walker in 2003.

Songs from Bublé's debut album (For Once in My Life and Kissing a Fool) were included on the Down With Love soundtrack, that starred Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger. The Junkie XL remix of Spider-Man from Bublé's Babalu album was played during the closing credits of Spider-Man 2, and this version was also released as a single.
