The 80th Academy Awards kick off in Los Angeles on Sunday night - they're the Oscars to you and me.

The event almost didn't go ahead this year because of the Hollywood Writers Strike but they did a deal last week so it's going ahead as planned.

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has told Heart about the first time he got to go to the lavish awards ceremony.

He explained: “I took every picture I could with every person I ever saw in a movie… Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier, Warren Beatty, Clint Eastwood…”

“I think it’s really appreciated when you’re a fan too… at least that’s the way I was the first time I went.”
