Paul HayesPaul Hayes

You can catch Paul on Club Classics every Friday from 7pm, and Fridays from 4pm, as well as Sunday afternoons from midday!

About me:
I’ve been a bit of a nomadic radio-gypsy really, packing up my stuff & living in more places than I can even remember…!

My first break came when my current boss at Heart gave me a chance to get on-air at Neptune Radio in Dover/Folkestone in 1998… I didn’t mess up too seriously, so stayed until 1999, when I moved to my home-town station Southern FM (Sussex) and Power FM (Hampshire). That also lasted for 2 years & I decided to try out the North of England, so moved up to Manchester to do mornings on Heart's sister station, Galaxy 102.

Then, a year later I was asked to take on the network late show for the nationwide Galaxy Network which was great fun.

The last move before Heart was to TFM in North Yorkshire for a year, then Heart in Jan 2004.

More about Paul:

What's the best thing about presenting on Heart?
I love talking to people on Club Classics… it’s really great finding out about people & what’s going on in their lives or where they’re heading for a night out – you never know who’s going to be next on the phone!

What was your most embarrassing moment on-air?
In the early days when I was reading the news & accidently said Paul House instead of Hayes… Weird! And I was talking about a group of criminals being picked up by a special branch of the MI5… but said MFI… really quite bad…!!

Who would be your fantasy celebrity interview?
Michael Jackson would be good!

What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
I’d throw a huge party and invite everyone I know. Then I'd just listen to everyone talk about me and make up theories as to why I didn’t show up…

If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Oh – just the basics – being able to fly, pick up buildings, get the girl… etc.

If you could have written one song, which one it be?
Massive Attack – Unfinished Sympathy. As I’d up wake up every day & just pat myself on the back for being so creative & deep.
