Animal lovers aren’t pleased with US talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres.
She’s in the doghouse after giving a pooch away to her hairdresser because it didn't get along with her cats.
Ellen and her partner adopted Iggy, a Brussels Griffon mix, from the Mutts and Moms agency on September 20 but decided it wasn’t for her and gave the pet to her crimper and her two daughters.
When the agency found out about the hand off – when they called to see how Iggy was settling in – they went to the hairdresser’s home and took the animal back into care.
Ellen came clean about what happened on her US TV show on Monday.
She told viewers: "I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn't keep it."
"Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids."
Ellen added: "I feel totally responsible for it and I'm so sorry. I'm begging them to give that dog back to that family. I just want the family to have their dog. It's not their fault.”
”It's my fault. I shouldn't have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls."
