Birthday: 4 September 1981
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Biggest Hit Singles: Crazy In Love, number one, 2003, Beautiful Liar (with Shakira), number one, 2007
Career Highlights: Six-time Grammy Award Winner
Sex symbol and American superstar Beyonce started her career in R&B group Destiny’s Child when she was only nine years old. It was an all-girl outfit managed by her father Matthew Knowles, that spawned a string of hits, including number one smash Survivor.
In 2002, after 12 years in the group, Beyonce split to go solo, and has been at the top of the charts ever since! She sang on rapper Jay-Z’s hit single 03 Bonnie And Clyde and has been dating him on and off since then. In 2003 she also teamed up with Luther Vandross to record The Closer I Get To You.
Later that year she released her first solo album Dangerously In Love, that was certified platinum within three weeks of release. It’s first single Crazy In Love was a huge success in Britain, America and around the world. The song was based around an old Chi-Lites song from 1970 called Are You My Woman, and featured Jay-Z rapping.
Since then Beyonce has released another album, had a huge number one hit Beautiful Liar with Latin American pop diva Shakira, and acted in Hollywood movies.
Her most famous film role is as Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers: Gold Member, alongside Mike Myers and Michael Caine.
Although she’s no stranger to fame, Beyonce recently confessed she becomes someone else on stage to help her perform, an alter ego she nicknamed Sasha.
Earlier this year Beyonce and Jay-Z were named Sexiest Couple by glamourous underwear empire Victoria’s Secret.
