Surviving Valentine’s Day

rose

By Lauren Pritchard-Gordon

We all know the feeling, eagerly awaiting the arrival of that ever-illusive Valentine’s Day card, an e-card would even suffice, just some kind of gesture that someone, somewhere loves us. If you’re one of the millions of single people whose hopes of a Valentine’s Day surprise ends with nothing less than, well, nothing, then fret no more, because believe it or not, being single has never been so good.

Eligible singles are logging on every day to join the search for love online. Simply put, finding a date has never been easier!

In today’s social climate of high career aspirations, (the side-effect of which means many people putting family plans on a back-burner), self-discovery and development, the active perusal of new life experiences and travel opportunities, along with the spirit of carpe diem, singletons are in fact aplenty. Thus, being single has lost many of its former stigmatisms and become very much the norm.

Do the maths and you’ll find that more single people = more dating opportunities. So it’s time to start planning. Here are our top tips for helping yourself to an ample piece of the love pie this Valentine’s Day:

Log on
Log on whenever and wherever possible. More singles are joining the search for love across cyber-space than ever before. It’s quick, easy, and before you know it you’ll be messaging plenty of people in your area. But remember, don’t wait for them to come to you, get searching now!

Picture perfect
Make sure you’ve uploaded your most flattering pictures. If not, do it as soon as possible for maximum exposure. Clear photos with you displaying your best smile are likely to get the most response because a welcoming smile is the perfect invitation for someone to get in touch.

Get out there
Avoid the couch potato syndrome in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, now’s the time to get out and about in your favourite haunts. Dust off your social skills in preparation for the new date you’re going to have secured for 14 February.

With over 3 million members, the love of your life could be waiting for you. Join now for FREE!

Feel the love
We’ve all been there, when you’re feeling lonely, everyone else around you seems loved up, and everywhere you go there are couples holding hands. Well this year we recommend you embrace the love. It may sound strange, but allowing yourself to feel down because of these couples will show in your body language. You may wish to shrink away from society when feeling lonely, but by doing the opposite and letting other people’s happiness spread into your own life, you’ll give off positive vibes which will actually make you more attractive to those around you who are single, people who perhaps you didn’t even notice were available to begin with.

Treat yourself
When we’re feeling a bit lonely, there’s nothing like a good pampering session. No, we’re not suggesting you visit the shops and max out on your credit card, rather treat yourself to something to help you along in the dating game. This might mean buying a new item of clothing, heading to a local health spa, taking part in your favourite sport, or nipping to the pub to engage in some social banter with someone new. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s a dating investment, by whatever stretch of the imagination!

You’re not alone
Remember that although you may feel like you’re the only one who’s single on Valentine’s Day, you couldn’t be further from the truth. There are millions of people in exactly the same boat. So why not make theirs’ a love boat and send a card. Someone has to make the first move after all.

So now you’ve the ingredients to get your own slice of the Valentine’s Day cake, start meeting singles in your town now for fun, love or romance...
